Another fascinating story from this author

Seven Stars reminds me of Dan Brown's books. The plot is full of twists and turns, assassins and near escapes. It is fast, thrilling and a definite page turner. The classical settings, lost artefacts and religious in-fighting are exciting developments on the theme. I loved it.

Thoroughly enjoyed this. Anything that plays with the gaps in Christian history piques my interest. Fun modern characters, even if a little type cast. 1st century characters perfectly real and believable. Really wanted to smack Josephus myself a few times...

In-depth treatment of moderate inversion, which offers low bias compliance voltages, high transconductance efficiency, and good immunity to velocity saturation effects for circuits designed in modern, low-voltage processes
Fabricated design examples that include operational transconductance amplifiers optimized for various tradeoffs in DC and AC performance, and micropower, low-noise preamplifiers optimized for minimum thermal and flicker noise

Spreadsheets are not available as advertised, author will not respond, Wiley publishers point me back to the author ...

I've only gotten through a few chapters. It's a bit of a slow read but seems reasonably well written thus far.

Unfortunately, the claim that the spreadsheets are available is false. The link on the author's website is broken. I emailed him a month ago ... no response. I spoke to Wiley customer service. They put the responsibility back on the author and refused to help beyond emailing him. I emailed the system admin for the website at UNC, who again pointed back to the professor. I emailed him again tonight.

I call this false advertisement as the description claims:

"A design spreadsheet, available at the book web site, that facilitates rapid, optimum design of MOS devices and circuits."

Don't think that just because you paid a lot of money for this book that you'll actually get what you were promised.

Excellent book.

Fortunately, this book is excellent.
And I say fortunately, because there is little choice when it comes about programming in mql5.
Besides the MetaQuotes documentation and this book, I could not find anything else.
The concepts are clearly presented and obviously the author had the reader’s needs in his attention.
Compared to other programming books (programming in general) this book is very easy to read and the information is easy to assimilate.
At the moment I have some experience in mql5 and I found the book very useful for myself. Certainly it will help me to develop my skills and I am sure it would be useful for the more experienced programmers as well.

Great book!

If you are looking for serious MQL5 learning, look no further, this is the book. I will give more stars if I could. Also, in page 3 it starts! Its the first technical book I read (and I read a lot) that starts right to the business in page 3! You will learn the basics, OOP, how to make some EAs, indicators, scripts, pending orders, trailing stops, etc, etc every step it is explained, great book. Of course then you will have to go to mql5.com and continue exploring there, but the book for example give you base files (all explained through the book) so then you do not have to modify too much things when you start with different strategies, indicators (the ones in MT5 and the ones you make). So, for me, it is great.

You can find the same information online, so really this book is just for providing an organized tutorial. It's only "ok", still had to look a lot of things up online that the book left out.

Rory writes in a fun, conversational style. He covers hypnosis pre-talk, how to psych yourself up, who and when not to hypnotize, how to know when someone is hypnotized, how to develop hypnotic gaze and confidence in your ability to hypnotize people on the spot, how to perform suggestibility (or as he calls them 'susceptibility") tests, and how to produce all kinds of hypnotic phenomena. He has also illustrated the book with photos, so you can see how to perform the techniques.

If you want to start hypnotizing people, read this book. The author provides plenty of helpful information on what hypnosis is, how it can be dangerous if not handled correctly, how to stage shows, etc., in addition to clear, concise explanations of various methods of hypnosis.

That includes rapid inductions, as the title implies. It takes practice to get good at hypnosis, but this book will set you on the right path.

About the Author
Katherine Charlton Calkins teaches in the music department at Mt. San Antonio College where she spent eight years on the all-college general education committee and then served as chair of the music department for the following ten years. During a yearlong sabbatical in 2007-2008 she studied women composers and compiled biographies, recordings, and listening guides, which she made available to her colleagues to help them add more women to their music appreciation and history classes. As a performer, she has a degree in classical guitar from California State University at Fullerton. She toured in Southern France and Tuscany, playing lute with an early music group led by her late, first husband Andrew Charlton and his friend Gloria Ramsey, both well known in the field of early music. Calkins also played percussion and toured in Japan with the CSUF Wind Ensemble. She got her M.A. in music history and has continued with further graduate study in that same field. As a teacher, she started the guitar program at Mt. San Antonio College, where she continues to teach music history, music appreciation, and history of rock music. Her first book, Rock Music Styles: A History, is now out in its sixth edition, published by McGraw-Hill Higher Education. Experience Music is her second book.

The book is fine, the CDs are awful.

The book by it self is fine, good info, fairly interesting. The CDs are a nightmare though. Songs are split into several, sometimes 5 or 6, files, making it a nightmare to listen to in anything other than a CD player (i.e. Computer) CD 1 does not have the info, and finding the names of the tracks is a nightmare, there doesn't seem to be a simple track list anywhere in the book.

This book is worthless without the code

This item was purchased new from Amazon but came without the special code needed to take tests and quizzes online. My son called the publisher, McGraw Hill, who said the code should have been inside the front cover. It wasn't. We had to pay another $50 to McGraw Hill to purchase a valid code so my son could go online to take the tests and quizzes. I feel that Amazon owes us a $50 refund - the cost of the code!!! This was a deceptive ripoff.

Great Textbook, easy to read

This textbook was very easy to read, with font that didn't hurt my eyes. Also, lots of pictures that made the text somewhat more interesting. The listening CD's included have snippets of music, not the whole tracks, but they work very well...a little hard to get out of their packaging though. I would recommend that all music classes use this textbook, as it was not dry and boring.
