A must buy...

I don't own this book, but I'd definetely put my money in it since I borrowed it from a professor and I found it very useful. The principles of photophysics are described in detail and the best part of this book is how the math is developed regarding kinetic studies (i.e. Stern Volmer equations). Is really easy to understand and read. The photochemistry part is OK. This book really serves as a nice complement for Turro's Molecular Organic Photochemistry book.

Exceptional text for the emergency room psychiatrist

This book is an excellent, comprehensive reference for professionals working with acute psychiatric patients. The book is well written, easy to understand, and effectively covers all the important issues facing emergency psychiatric professionals. This book would be what I would choose if I had to select one book to have at my side when working with psychiatric emergencies.

Psychopathy missing in assessment. Use of Thorazine or Lithium missing in Psychopharmacology

In general, a very good basic discussion of the aspects of running a Psychiatric Emergency Service.

Two minor issues:
1. Psychopathy - lack of remorse in personality- is not discussed at all as to diagnostics nor treatment,
2. Psychopharmacology - few choices discussed for all sorts of DSM categories, didn't see lithium or thorazine mentioned.

Wonderful January Story

I thought this book made a great addition to "The Saddle Club" series. It just goes to show that even the most horse-crazy girls still have a life outside the stable.

The story takes place in January, and nothing at all seems to be going on. Max, the stable owner, takes off for a very rare vacation, which means Pine Hollow has no club meetings, or horse lessons. Things just seem too quiet around the stables, and each Saddle Club girl feels like they have other things that they could be doing besides being around horses all day.

Carole is considering to sell her horse...
Stevie has a foot race to win...
and Lisa can always find new projects to work on...
Will they return to their old selves?

I really enjoyed this book, and I know if you are a horse-lover, you'll enjoy it as well!

A nice break!

I thought this book was a great idea! The SAaddle Club is tired of riding and the funny thing is when I get to this book in my series I need a break too because I get kinda sick about reading about horses horses horses and then this book makes me realize how much I miss reading about horses horses horses. The book is not boring at all. Just because the girls aren't with horses doesn't mean they are just sitting around. Each girl in busy and this book will keep you busy!

Well, first of all, the piaffes. Horses that have benn trained to do a piaffe can, and it IS realistic. And IT'S A FICTION BOOK! Carole should not of gotten a dressage horse, because she's into jumping. Stevie is the one into Dressage and she has a dressage horse. Also, WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH THAT BOOK! Well, I think if you're like me, you'll like the book, but t won't be the best book you've ever read. Tired of horses? But everything else was good. I especially like how Bonnie matched up the tasks with the characters.

Still reading book

I love Mary Higgins books and have read hers from the beginning. Her last two did not catch my attention in the first chapter as they usually do. Thinking that it may be me and not the book, I bought this book. It has done the same thing, so I will wait and try again later. Just ordered one of her daughter's books-Carol Higgins Clark, who I also read. After, will go back to Mom's book and read. Love their mother/daughter books also.

Interesting but hardly original.

This book read like an episode of "Murder She Wrote" or even the old Scooby Doo cartoons. Introduce the main characters, have one of them murdered, make everyone look suspicious, introduce a conspiracy, then solve the mystery. I solved the mystery myself not by analyzing the facts from the story but by simply looking at the plot and seeing things that Clark obviously had to tie up before ending the book. The book was a fast read and kept me at least a little entertained, but it wasn't groundbreaking.
